Project Description:
Our partner schools in Kenya share a common problem: lack of sufficient textbooks. Currently, 5 students share 1 textbook, and we are working to cut this ratio in half, to about 3 students per textbook. We need $1000 to provide 2 schools in Nakuru, Kenya with 100 textbooks each. That is $5 for 1 textbook. By adding 100 more textbooks to each of our schools, the students will be able to study more efficiently, finish their homework sooner, prepare for tests in time, and produce better results in their national examinations. The books will be purchased locally and are texts that the school is already using. This will help Hope 4 Africa get a step closer to achieving its mission to improve education in this region of Kenya.

Moses Bomett, Founder of Hope 4 Africa Inc.
Having studied in both Kenya and the US, Moses saw first-hand the disparity between the two education systems. While most children in the US were able to study, Kenyan families often lacked the funds necessary to send their children to school (often as little as $20 per child per month). In March, 2008 Moses (then 16 years-old) launched Hope 4 Africa Club in his high school in West Des Moines, IA. Two years later, Hope 4 Africa has grown from a high school club to a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that offers substantial support to four schools in Nakuru, Kenya. Moses is now a freshman at Iowa State University.
